A writer forms an unexpected bond with the residents of Guernsey Island in the aftermath of World War II when she decides to write a book about their experiences during the war.
The islands of Guernsey and Jersey are just off the northern shore of France, and yet they are part of Great Britain. Guernsey was involved in some ways during WWII - I think there are still war bunkers left there. The main port is Peter Port. The language spoken may be a little "funny." I say "may" because I haven't been there yet, but I hope to visit soon.
