Art on the Avenue in Del Ray is in its 27th year! I remember before the event began, when Del Ray was still an upcoming place. This festival has grown to stretch almost the entirety of Mount Vernon Avenue, and has thousands of visitors. I have only been a vendor at Art on the Avenue one other time, when I published my calendar, Driving to Pittsburgh. I sold 29 calendars that day, which is probably more than anyone sells of anything, non-food.
Last Winter while I was in my indoor retail space on Mount Vernon Ave, the first emails came in about the Arts event. I signed up right away. Then on the day of the event, October 1st, hurricane Ian headed our way. It was a rare postponement of the event. So, here we are again. I hope we have a great Art on the Avenue this Saturday, the 12th of November! My tent will be just past the Post Office and on the opposite side. They will have shuttle buses from Braddock Road Metro. Any transportation other than your car will be the best way to get there!

New Clothing
This weekend we traveled to New York City where I discovered the world of wholesaling. For the purses I have been making, I found a store entirely filled with every style of zipper, buckle, button, chain, strap and grommet that you could think of. Along the dark chasm-like streets of the city there were shops for every kind of product. I brought home new tie-dyed shirts from India and gorgeous pashmina scarves of wool and silk. I got berets in every color which I will be embellishing with my Harris Tweed from Scotland. I will have the new products Sunday at West End Market, off Duke Street in Alexandria.
