Latest Hats
I have been busy printing fabric and sewing Summer hats with embroidered details. All are 100% cotton with a cotton lining and the Yellow Dot Designs tag.
All of these hats are washable, however the brims have a double layer, including buckram with starch, so spot cleaning or careful washing is best.
New Books at Yellow Dot Publishing
I have been working on two new books! In June we have Faith and Race being published on the weekend of Juneteenth. Written by Melynda Wilcox of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, this book tells the struggles of my grandfather, Clifford Johnson, as he confronted unavoidable events and rising tensions in a city which was very racist.
Later this year, we have the excellent book, Steel coming out. Written by local author Brooke Stoddard, this is a fascinating history of steel making. Stoddard writes about inventions in Europe, Asia, and American steel towns like Pittsburgh and Baltimore, which helped build the modern world that we know.
Yellow Dot Book Gets Publicity
Life Lessons of an American Woman is written by a former model and Alexandria business woman on the topics of substance abuse and adopting children.
Life Lessons was published by Yellow Dot Publishing this October. The book is getting attention from the newspaper Alexandria Gazette Packet with an article coming soon. So we have stocked books at Made in ALX, a shop in Old Town North which carries items by local makers and writers. I will have Life Lessons at the markets, and you can order it at YellowDotShop.com.
