Yellow Dot Shop May News 2026 In Arlington Now Painting Sold Summer Hats! At Arlington's Pike Park Market My neighboring county Arlington, Virginia is full of interesting people, places and things. And yet I have never been in a market there - until now! This May I tried out Columbia Pike Farmer's Market. It is in Pike Park at the corner of S. Walter Reed Drive and Columbia Pike. They have shade trees, live music, lots of good vendors, and they have been there for thirty years! They have been under new vigorous management since last year, and I was...

My April Fool's Post.  For April Fool's Day I like thinking up a clever way to show off the Shop logo in unexpected places! Some years ago, I pasted my logo onto a photo of a Target store. Painting Leads to Bridge Designer: I have found the designer of Alexandria's Wilson Bridge! I have painted this bridge several times over the years. Recently we had our first market of 2026 indoors. At my table I met Fred Gottemoeller, whose wife casually mentioned that he had designed the bridge that was on my painting. Hark! As I was painting it last Summer, I mused to myself that it sure would be nice to meet the designer of the fantastic Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Fred points out that any bridge is designed by a full team, of which he was a...

As promised I have been painting up a storm this January. This dragon was inspired by the dragon used for a Welsh soccer team, one that is featured in a favorite TV show, "Welcome to Wrexham." The team was bought by two American actors, who have created a TV series and brought success to this small town team. I looked at fantastical landscape painting to guide my background scene. This is watercolor painted on tan paper. Ellen Hamilton We visited a botanical garden full of wonders! I started this in the hotel room and finished it up at home. Scene from...
